The von Zenger family owned Liepupe Manor from 1829 to 1921. The von Zengers purchased the manor in an open auction in 1829. During this time, the manor became a center of agricultural production and processing. However, the most significant work was associated with Friedrich von Zenger’s involvement in the shipping industry, as he was one of the founders of the steamship company Pernigel. The steamship Pernigel provided water transport between Riga and Liepupe. In 1921, as part of the agrarian reform in the newly formed Latvian state, Liepupe Manor was expropriated. The last members of the von Zenger family left Latvia in 1939.
